This was so good to hear. Rooted in the scripture, yes, but not married to the interpretation. Built on a firm foundation, yes, but also to current building standards! Indeed, cognitive flexibility and the power of the Spirit is the only reason I can still hold on to Christianity despite many Christians trying to beat me to death with their Bibles and hateful laws.

Your thoughts on expansion and inclusion and so powerful and true: it was hard for Jesus' disciples and the early church (with gentiles), and it's hard with the modern church today (with queer people). So much of that resistance seems based in fear - not understanding those who are different, not being willing to leave your comfort zone of doctrine around gender, identity, and how diverse humanity was created to be. Perhaps that's why Jesus so often commanded us to not be afraid, to resist fear?

So glad you liked it and yes, it's the only way I can stay Christian too.

Fear is a hallmark of fundamentalism for sure. I heard somewhere that 'don't be afraid' is said a gazillion times in the bible... don't have the exact number.
